this is a wonderfully rendered work of art. It is beautifully painted and admirable--- it also has about as much soul as eric clapton trying to sing the black delta blues. Give me blind willie dixon or robert johnson and and save me from the confectionery sugar of lifeless painting. You cannot explain soul anymore than you can tell someone how to ride a bike, it is an experiential matter----not a matter of words it is SUPRA RATIONAL. It is still better than the crap that the abstractionists sold us but it has no nutrients, either. Nerdrum surpassed this man by a lance armstrong mile ...At least he labored hard.
